which game would they send. several teams play at a time.
it's preseason and the interest for out of market games iosn't there.

They should pick one game to play live instead of zero games to play
live. I know the interest isn't high, but it's gotta be higher than an
NFL Films documentary about the 1985 Bears, or whatever they played instead.

Mark please post this Pats scheduling bunk in the Pats newsgroup. Jets
fans don't give a shit about when the Pats are on TV. Only thing we
give a shit about the Pats is destroying you guys.

I expect Miami to be the surprise this year.

Miami 10-6
Pats 9-7
Jets 7-9

The schedule is brutal this year. The Pats defense is so
bad, it might be worse than 9-7.

Pats D is better than they were last year, and they went 10-5.

pats defense looked to me like it improved. spikes looked as good as
he did in college. the three guys the got up front looked to do a
nice job stuffing things up even without ty warren. other than
getting caught behind his assignment in shallow routs, mccourty looks
like he's the full skill set. biggest surprise was chung. i'd all
but wrote him off as anything other than a 1st down ss or big nickel.
he was one of the best looking db's on the field. when the first team
was in, as usual, they called the perfect set at the right time. not
exciting, but quietly efficient and logical. of course the big
problem was the outside pressure. olb is the only weakness. though,
i'm betting bb secretly covets ryans mojo and plans to overload it a
bit for himself every now and again to make up for his dull olbs

Mostly agree, but I think the other big problem is the defensive line.
In particular, the interior pass rush is bad. This isn't any different
from last year though. But it definitely exacerbates the problem at
OLB. This is probably why we're seeing so much blitzing this year.
Last year they had the same problems at OLB and interior rush, but
didn't quite have the secondary to pull off the blitzing thing.

well.. there is gonna be more blitzing, i'd guess... i cant imagine
how they would make up for the lack of talented rush guys. i'd like
to know if bb is gonna try economical zone blitzing or if he is gonna
make like rex and spool up an 8 man melee

For the large part, absolutely, what I was referring to were the
migrant workers who are short term workers. If you come here you
should have the hope of being American.

Mark... There are always stupid people and smart people. The key is
the nature of the system. Consider the differences between the Roman
Republic and the late Imperial period. Stupid people in both systems,
no ??? Same deal with America. A big difference between the true
American republic and what ever you want to call what it has become
now. IMHO, the shape that the fed gov took after the reconstruction
was the watershed. It was the end of what was actually a republic.

I have been scratching my head-- shut up Johnny-- and wonder how this
roster shakes out.

3 QB's
3 TB's -- if they risk leaving Woddhead out there to bring him back to
the practice squad
? FB -- We can't afford the luxury of two so is Richardson is done?
?TE -- We should have never released Joel Dreesen. A long snapper who
can actually play TE. Keller & ???
? OL -- this will have to be 8
6 WR -- Holmes, Cotchery, Edwards, Smith, Clowney, Henry -- Coles gets
cut?

Apparently Rex has said that both Richardson and Conner will make the
team.

I don't think Holmes counts toward the roster for the first 4 games -
not sure about that though.

And Coles has stated publicly that he knows he is only a fill in for
those 4 games, and he said he plans to retire from football when Holmes
returns. He signed because he wants to retire as a Jet.

Maybe he doesn't even make it that far though? Where has he been on the
depth chart this preseason?

I REALLY like that you've kept Henry. DO you have any indication that
the coaches think he'll stick?

Papa... Quite an ordeal. Glad you made it. Sounds like you are a
tuff guy and you had some fantastic doctors. The silver lining is of
course a unique appreciation for... everything. Keep on strokin',
man. And yes... The modified Ross procedure is interesting stuff.
The guy that did mine two years ago is considered the best in the
world for that surgery. Patients come from all over the planet for
his knife work. As big of a surgery as it is, I still felt fine when
I first woke up. I was on my feet the next day, out of the hospital
in three days and back to work in three weeks. The best part of all
is that I dont take any medications at all and I have no physical
restrictions of any kind. My heart function is perfect and I take
full advantage. There is a possibility that one of the valves will go
bad again, but the natural history that we have now for the modified
Ross gives me an 85 % chance of not needing any re-op in the next 20
years. It turns out that this surgery is ideal a lot of the time for
children that have valve issues. With traditional treatment, if a kid
had a bad valve that needed to be replaced, other surgeries would have
to be done as the kid grew or as the replacement valves wore out.
With the modified Ross, the valves grow along with the kids. It saves
them from having to go through repeat surgical procedures. I had a
minor blockage of my valve from birth. It was so moderate, I was
still able to be very active and play on the baseball team. As the
doctors told me though, it would probably get a lot worse as I grew.
Sure enough it did. Like clockwork it got critical just when they
said it would. Once those valves stiffen up they get covered with
calcium very quickly. Fortunately, they patched me up :-)

I think it has been both. Schotty hasn't always had the best to work
with, yet his cumulative results don't speak awfully well for him.

Never hurts to have an elite QB. If Sanchez can stay within himself
and not turn the ball over, the Jets offense should be fine. The
question then: is 'fine' enough to win it all?

Good god is "Patton" one of the best films of all time. Watching it
for the 6 millionth time right now. Watching it reminded me of our
very own general.

That's what I like about Rex: there is no bullshit. Like he said
during one practice on Hard Knocks: "God I love football." Not unlike
when George C. Scott - one of the most brilliant actors of all time
btw - delivers that famous line surveying the destruction of a
battlefield after talking to the soldier: "I love it. God help me, I
do love it so. I love it more than my life."

Lead us to victory, Gen. Ryan. We've been yearning for decades. We
will follow you to the very end.

I love that film as well. Scotts finest moment but..... he turned out to
be such a disappointment as an actor. He made a series of really bad films
before he died. Always made me wonder how good he really was?

Girl-band star escapes jail over HIV infection

* Singer says she was a "coward" to hide illness

* AIDS awareness group unhappy with conviction

(Adds reaction from lawyer, AIDS awareness group)

By Hakan Erdem

DARMSTADT, Germany, Aug 26 (Reuters Life!) - A German pop singer who
confessed to knowingly exposing two men to the risk of HIV after
finding out she had the virus herself was convicted by a court on
Thursday of grievous bodily harm.

Nadja Benaissa, 28, from German girl-band No Angels was given a two-
year suspended sentence. She could have faced up to 10 years in jail.
Prosecutors had sought a lenient sentence because Benaissa had
confessed and expressed remorse.

"I made a huge mistake," Benaissa told the Darmstadt court in western
Germany at the end of the trial on Wednesday, adding she had kept it
all a secret because she was afraid of what would happen if the public
learned she had been HIV-positive.

"I was a coward," she said. "I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart. I
wish I could turn back the clock and make it all not happen."

Benaissa was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm in one instance
for infecting a 34-year-old talent agent, and attempted grievous
bodily harm for another occasion when she had unprotected sex with
another man between 2000 and 2004.

She was also required to perform 300 hours of community service and
submit to regular counseling sessions.

Benaissa's lawyer Oliver Wallasch said the trial had been a stressful
experience for the singer but that she had no complaints about the
punishment meted out.

"I think on the part of the defence and that of my client one can be
satisfied with the verdict," he told reporters.

AIDS awareness group Deutsche AIDS-Hilfe (DAH), which had hoped for an
acquittal, was unhappy with the decision, arguing that people infected
with HIV now risked further stigma and would not be encouraged to come
clean about the virus.

"I think this is the wrong verdict. This will do serious damage to HIV
prevention," DAH spokesman Carsten Schatz said.

Benaissa said she had been aware she was HIV-positive since a routine
blood test taken during her pregnancy in 1999, when she was 17. The
talent agent later contracted full-blown AIDS, while the other man was
not infected with HIV.

Both state prosecutor Peter Liesenfeld and Benaissa's defence attorney
had sought a suspended sentence. Liesenfeld told reporters the fact
she had made a full confession and expressed regret were the main
reasons for the leniency.

Born in Frankfurt to a German mother and a Moroccan father, Benaissa
and four others formed No Angels in 2000 after taking part in a
television casting show.

The band became of the most successful girl-groups in Germany with
hits such as "Daylight in Your Eyes" that were popular across Europe.

Benaissa, who has also worked as an actress in Germany, was initially
arrested on the charge in April last year and spent 10 days in
detention.

Prosecutors' publication of her medical condition sparked criticism
that she had been unfairly treated. (Writing by Erik Kirschbaum and

This is not your father's social network -- oh, wait a minute, maybe
it is.

The phenomenal growth of Facebook, Twitter and other social sites in
the past year has come in part because of a surge in adoption by older
members, with a new national poll being released this morning saying
that the share of Americans over 50 using social networks doubled in
the past year.

In April 2009, just 22 percent of Americans aged 50 and over were
using social networking tools such as Facebook, according to the Pew
Research Center's Internet & American Life Project. But by May of this
year, 42 percent of Americans 50 and older were posting status updates
or sending Tweets. A near majority -- 47 percent -- of people between
the ages of 50 and 64 are now using social networks.

"Young adults continue to be the heaviest users of social media, but
their growth pales in comparison with recent gains made by older
users," Mary Madden, author of the Pew report, said in a prepared
statement. "Email is still the primary way that older users maintain
contact with friends, families and colleagues, but many older users
now rely on social network platforms to help manage their daily
communications."

While Facebook may have started as a way for college undergraduates to
flirt, it may end up being the thing that closes the gap between
generations, as the thorny question of whether to "friend" Mom and Dad
becomes an increasingly universal dilemma, even for middle-aged
people. The Pew report found that 13 percent of Americans aged 65 and
older now log into a social network on a typical day, compared to 4
percent in 2009.

"Social media has the potential to bridge generational gaps," Madden
said. "There are few other spaces -- online or offline -- where
tweens, teens, sandwich generation members, grandparents, friends and
neighbors regularly intersect and communicate across the same
network."

Pew's findings come from a nationwide telephone survey of 2,252
American adults who were interviewed on landlines and cell phones, and
have a margin of error between two and three percentage points.
