Jails are not for punishment, says Mizoram Home Minister (Poll)
http://mizoramexpress.com/index.php/2010/09/jails-not-for-punishment-says-mizoram-home-minister/

3 Sept, 2010

Aizawl: Mizoram Home Minister, Mr. R. Lalzirliana recently turned
moral science teacher during his talks on jail reforms when he said
that jails were not a place for punishment. (CAST YOUR VOTE BELOW:
What is the main purpose of Jail)
http://mizoramexpress.com/index.php/2010/09/jails-not-for-punishment-says-mizoram-home-minister/

"The main objective of the Jail is correction of criminals for their
normal living in the society," he said while addressing a training for
Jail staff in Information Department's Auditorium on Sept 1.

Zonet quoted the the Home Minister as saying: "Jail is not a place of
punishment and what the worker should do is to try to change the
mindset of the criminals to enable them to live normal life in the
civil society."

The Minister stated that a remote state like Mizoram now faces
problems of global diseases like HIV/AIDS and Cancer, which are
spreading despite efforts taken by the government. He demonstrated
that prison should not be a place of punishment but of reformation.
The Home Minister said that he wanted prisons in Mizoram to be clean
in order to level with prisons in developed countries. He welcomed the
UNODC in the steps taken for prevention of HIV/AIDS in Mizoram and
stated that he is hoping for collaboration in more areas.

"Life has changed. I never knew this small cloth has such a big value in my life. Right from the beginning my mother told me it's my sin which comes out as blood. I used to wonder- am I such a bad person that every month I commit so many mistakes?" Bano can talk endlessly on how the small piece of cloth in the shape of sanitary pad has changed her life.

Not just the physical comfort and the feeling of well being, it's about basic dignity of Bano and millions of women like her who are forced to use things like sand, ash, jute gunny bags, pieces of paper, rugs, rags anything which can absorb- in the name of a basic need called sanitary pad.

Face it, it is a highly taboo and closed subject or issue. I remember when few years ago we started opening the subject and initiated dialogues in public- in rural areas, urban slums, corporates, schools- anywhere and everywhere it brought on a distinct discomfort followed by shock among the people. They felt connected with the reality but highly disconnected with the fact that everyone took such a major issue for granted.

Today GOONJ produces about 2,00,000 napkins a month and we can see ripples. The subject is opening; more people are getting into talking and doing something about this. The central government announced plans of reaching pads to 150 districts, the implementation is yet to be seen and we need to see how it unfolds but leave apart the  merits and demerits  for a moment, we are happy that at least people have started thinking about this most ignored need of women on a policy level..

Recently GOONJ was awarded Innovation for India Award (Refer- http://www.maricoinnovationfoundation.org/awards/list_2010.html) a proud moment for everybody who trusts and supports us. It is humbling to see that using old cloth as a resource for village development and turning old cloth into a sanitary pad is appreciated in the middle of hundreds of other technical and social innovations. The replication is already happening on various levels, we are looking forward to a day when people understand the power of old material not as wastage but as a huge resource. The Hypocrisy of European Companies
Global Firms Violate Labor Standards in the United States
Many European companies that publicly embrace workers' rights and corporate responsibility have not always lived up to those standards in the United States, where their management has limited the ability of workers to organize and form unions.
In a new report, Human Rights Watch documents how German telecom giant T-Mobile characterized employees' "talking about rights" as dangerous activity to be reported immediately to management. Such policies break US law and violate international standards established by bodies like the International Labor Organization.
Other companies cited include French food service company Sodexo, whose management threatened, interrogated, and fired workers who tried to form a union. British supermarket chain Tesco's subsidiary tried to muzzle workers' communication among themselves about unions.
Even self-proclaimed "progressive" companies take advantage of weak US labor laws that don't meet international standards. Dutch textile firm Gamma Holding hired new permanent employees to replace striking workers – legal in the United States, but a clear breach of global labor standards.
The report points out that claiming to be responsible is not enough. Companies consistently should put those principles into practice, especially where national labor laws are inadequate and do not meet international standards.

Saudis Fail to Protect Domestic Worker
Woman Says Employers Hammered Nails Into Her Body as Punishment
The Saudi employers of  a Sri Lankan domestic worker, Lahadapurage Daneris Ariyawathie, 49, allegedly hammered nails into her body after she complained of being overworked. This brutal incident highlights the severe shortcomings in Saudi Arabia's labor laws and practices that foster abuse and exploitation.
An estimated 1.5 million women, most from Asia and Africa, work in Saudi Arabia, cooking, cleaning, and caring for children. Yet they are excluded from labor laws that regulate working hours or penalize employers for not paying salaries on time. As documented by Human Rights Watch in its 2008 report, "As If I Am Not Human," some withhold wages for years.
Saudi employers typically confiscate a domestic worker's passport and confine her to the house, even when she is not working. The report documented many cases of physical and sexual abuse of domestic workers.
In the past, Saudi police and prosecutors have failed to investigate criminal complaints by domestic workers against their employers.
A media report said Ariyawathie's employers have been arrested. But the status of the case is not clear. A Sri Lankan embassy official told Human Rights Watch that Saudi authorities had not yet informed them of any steps to investigate the matter.

The same thing was said when they went from 12 to 14. Then again when
they went from 14 to 16. Injuries can happen at anytime, and as long as
both sides will make more money, you're right it will happen.

It is a foregone conclusion, but I am a purist, and I am dead-set
against it. There aren't enough quality players as it is on the 53 man
roster. Who really has quality depth? Super Bowl shouldn't be decided
by who won the war of attrition. Does this now mean players will get
an @ 12% raise fro the extra games? I am old school as it gets (for a
42 year-old, anyway). Too many teams as it is in NFL, MLB and NHL.
(Don't know or care about NBA). Talent pool is already diminished as
it is. They damn well better have 2 byes when they got to 18 games.

I think the extra bye and expanded rosters will happen if/when the
change occurs. I don't disagree with your points, but if it means more
football, then I'm leaning towards it.

Just watched it. A few things jumped out at me, at least one of which
has been mentioned here. It is VERY troubling that the O (D too?)
suffers from a severe lack of leadership. All agree that the chemistry
is great, but what good are ingredients with no one to blend them into
a nice finished product? Sanchez doesn't at all come across as a
leader. Granted, we only see a small fraction of the player
interactions, and that can be very misleading, but I sense that
Sanchez is a little too loosey-goosey for my liking. He needs to kick
some ass when necessary, and I am not sure he is capable....yet. This
aint USC, Mark. I love how he shook off the shoulder injury (when I
saw that live, I immediately flashed back to Chad vs Giants in '03.),
but he needs some more fire. The bragging is wearing thin, even for
me. I didn't care for Rex barking at that Panther (unless he said
something to Rex first). Maybe that is a regular occurrence in NFL,
but I doubt it. Simmer down, Rex. Leave the trash-talking to the guys
with the uniforms on. Secondly, I found one comment to be utterly un-
professional, and inexcusable...particularly to a non-conference
opponent in week #3 of pre-season..."Fuck the Redskins", by Westhoff.
What? I really like and respect the guy, but that was so uncalled for.
Show some respect for the opponent- who beat us, by the way. Jason
Taylor- repeatedly late? Staged? They just happened to have a camera
in his car, as he got lost? Maybe, but....how many players' cars have
cameras? What a great guy LC comes off as. Remember how he came in as
a troubled kid with a chip on his shoulder? What a solid pro. Wanted
to retire as a Jet, even if he didn't get re-signed. Never sulked in
camp, and coaches and players love him.
I hear he wants to stay with us as a scout. I love it. Heart of a
lion, and great perspective. I also think (know?) the players getting
cut is staged. Just look at their reactions, as they sit at their
lockers. "Coach wants to see ya, and bring your playbook"? A little
too predicatable. One more thing, first season with no season tickets
in over 45 years-and they called me again today. I believe it is the
ninth time since I turned the seats in the new stadium down. And what
kind of a "home field advantage" is it gonna be when it is 22 degrees
in January, and all the corporate schmucks are sitting in a heated
club watching (and doing business) the game on a giant HDTV? This
stadium project has "BUST" written all over it. Good article in
yesterday's USA Today, about declining attendance at games. F 'em. I
never asked for a new stadium. My ass fit just fine in my seats all
those years. Sean

Memo to Sean... it was episode 4.

Oh, and BTW, don't let a "60 hours of weekly tape edited down to one hour to
the way the producers want it to be" TV show influence you too much.

Can anyone advise a site where a simpleton like me can get the "NFL
Contracts for Dummies"-type explanation. Just when I think I have a
handle on it.... Now I hear a player's salary is GUARANTEED by virtue
of the fact that he is the roster opening day? Doesn't that seem to
imply that contracts are, in fact, guaranteed? And who gives a darn
how long a player's deal is, if they are only getting (in many
circumstances) the guaranteed money?Thanks, Sean

guaranteed for that season and even then I think there is a point where they

THE ECONOMICAL AND MILITARY CRISIS OF USA

((((( IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SOLVE IT, WITHOUT USING BOMBS )))))

IS THIS, the good ISRAEL's strategy plot ?

==================================================
1° Step of a good plot)
About September 13-15 2001, in Rome, Romano De Simone was talking with
Vittorio Halfon, High Level Jew of international influence, agent of
Israel.
"Your opinion was correct, Romano, were the our AGENTS in NYC
(The WTC's Authors). They are geniuses. Few thousands of dead, for
making many millions dollars, accusing Arabs. Wall Street collapses,
but they it rayse up again."

2° Step of a good plot)
Spreading in hole US the Subprime Loans, and ROBBING the inventions,
this is the SPRINGS OF THE prosperity of America, inclusive SPALIC of

Romano De Simone (www.spalic.com), having dozens utilizations,
from the sanitary until spatial fields.

3° Step of a good plot)
Withdrawing of 500 billion dollars from the US's banks during 2 hours,
at September, 18 2008, for sparking off a global economical crisis
against American Workers, and dominating worldwide.

=================================================
=================================================

With the 11 September 2001, for the first time in the history, a
militar attack BY A LOT OF BOMB, had become a film.

How all the world it has been able to see, the tele-camera to take back the

scene, did'nt be trotting, as when it happens an unexpected event, but
were

well supported on the ground, waiting to arrival of the airplanes, of which

were AWARE only the organizers of the attack, and no-one else on the
world.

But who were these art directors, very very special?

On signaling of a lady, that had seen three men shooting the scene, very
happy

and smiling and for nothing shocked, from a white van, of which she had

taken the plate, the police has verified that:

1) The van was property of an Israeli company : the "Urban Moving System".

2) After detained the van many hours after, had halted the police five mens
among the 22 and the 27 years, which one had in pocket 4700 dollars, that
were able be only the remuneration of the film.

3) The driver of the van was such Sivan Kurzberg, and the other were Paul
Kurzberg, Yaron Samuel, Oded Ellner and Omer Marmari, who resulted all
Israeli citizens.

4) The Jewish daily paper of New York has brought that two mens of them, in
accordance with the FBI, were agents of the Israeli intelligence.

The URBAN MOVING SYSTEM company, owner of the van, it is resulted of
ownership of the Israel state.

The administrator of the URBAN MOVING SYSTEM company, Dominick Otto Suter,
year 1970, whose Social Security Number is 129-78-0926, he escaped in Israel
the same day 11-September-2001.

Three months after the attack at two towers, a troupe of the television net
ABC has shot inside the offices of the URBAN MOVING SYSTEM
company: they appeared deserted in a great hurry, even with objects of
ownership of the customers of company.

The URBAN MOVING SYSTEM company were missing.
It's possible to conclude saying that the responsibility of the attacks at
two towers are not of the Israel government ?.
========================================
========================================

THE COINCIDENCES:
The two falling towers, have been filmed exclusively by hebrews from Israel.
The boss of this group has escaped in Israel, the same day 11 septembers
2001.

The two towers belong to an Hebrew, that had to it demolish, for cause of
asbestos that there was contained.

The unique world organizations, which having the fit structures to organize
this attack, are the freemasonries, which are by exclusively control of
hebrews.

The americans, Jewish and not, at this stage, have the investigating duty,
the going out from the generic and unproved accusations, of terrorism from
Arabic matrix.

A Bin Laden that himself accused, it shows absolutely nothing : he has been
paid to do it.

He has been paid to do spread a planetary war, of America against the arabs,
that serves only to ISRAEL, as the Iraq war.

STRUCK ROMANO DE SIMONE , only because they want STRUCKING any
inventor working for AMERICA = THEY WANT CLOSE ALLLLL SPRINGS of
technolgy and PROSPERITY OF AMERICA.

THEY WANT THE REIGN OF ZIONIST DREAM OVER THE GLOBE.
============================================================

QUESTIONS
How to be possible you believe to a Bin Laden, only because himself accuses,
while the organizers are able to be only the Israeli ART-DIRECTORS
fortuitously discovered, by the police, or their friends ?

Nobody can exclude that Bin Laden is one of this friends of Israel !

NOBODY CAN EXCLUDE BIN LADEN IS UNDER THE MOSSAD'S STRATEGY !!!!!!

Why nobody have the valor to asking the necessary investigating
on Israel and his friends ?

How to be possible it you mines two towers, with thousands of kilos of
explosive, without the helping of owner of two towers ?

WHY THE HALTED ISRAELIS WERE AS HAPPY,
WHILE THEY WERE SEING TO EXPLODE AND COLLAPSE
THE W-T-C TWO TOWERS ?

It needs verify if such they happiness, documented by they-self,
with the photos that they same have done, was connected to the
fact that THEIR WORK HAD MADE VERY WELL, as from same excellent engineers.

PERHAPS TRANSPORTING THE EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL WITH THEIR MINIBUS:
what heavy work !!!!.

In such case they deserves the engineering degree, "ONORIS CAUSA".
=====================================================
But they can ever demonstrate that all these technical conclusions
are false,
and the clear truth is all other things, THE DEAR BOYS !!!

that is jumping the gun. all we saw was the preseason. it means
little to nothing. the jets own coach called the season off last year
and wound up being 30 min from the superbowl. the regular season is
long and the jets are loaded with talent. all the have to do is win
half of their games up to week 12 and save their best for the end of
the season.

I think 8 - 8 is what they will wind up with. I have zero confidence
in Schott and even less in Sanchez. I still don't see what everyone
sees in Sanchez. He looks like a deer in the headlights on the field
and I hate the pouting he does when he screws up.

As a Columbia alum, I decided our team never deserved to win another
game after the debacle of declaring that losing was acceptable.

For those ignorant about Columbia football, after several inspiring
games (including winning the Rose bowl, upsetting an undefeated Army
juggernaut in the early 50s on their own version of The Catch, and some
brilliant upsets by an Archie Roberts qb'd team, Columbia started
losing. horrifically. We could find ways to lose that would have made
hours long videos of freak plays, incredible decisions, bad luck, etc.
We even had the longest losing streak in the nation.

Garrett was brought in with his sons to turn it around. I think it was
in his first game that they were ahead, a huge upset in the making, I am
sorry I forget the opponent, the punter went in and whiffed at the ball.
Whiffed. The opponents went on to score. Garrett kicked the punter off
the team after making him apologize to the team. IMHO, the only way to
destroy a legacy of incompetence was to not tolerate it so I was
overjoyed that losing was not going to continue to be a way of life.

Except the NY media destroyed Garrett. They loved the lovable losers .
The administration decided that a punter who whiffs at a ball and costs
his entire team a well earned victory should not be embarrassed by being
kicked off the team for being the loser he was, or forced to apologize
to his teammates for single handedly costing them a game. The punter was
reinstated, Garrett fired. And losing continued.

His kids transferred to Princeton which did not do to badly and one of
his sons had a brief pro career before becoming a coach down in Dallas.

Art Rooney To Seek Three - Game Suspension Reduction For Roethlisberger
Friday

In direct defiance to the NFL Commissioner's publicly stated position on the
issue of suspension reduction, Art Rooney plans to bring all remaining
unpaid favors owed to his late father Art Rooney, Sr., and the Rooney
football family, to bear in pressuring NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, into
reducing Ben Roethlisberger's expected suspension reduction of 4 games down
to a 3 game suspension, during the Friday meeting.

ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports that Ben Roethlisberger's representatives
will travel to and attend the New York meeting. The entourage however
consists mainly of Art Rooney, team attorneys and Ben's parents. All
appeared confident during a group photo session which followed the press
statements, that they can convince NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, to
reconsider his position against a three game reduction of Ben's anticipated
4 game suspension this Friday.

When the 3 game suspension reduction was first presented by Roethlisberger
and Art Rooney during the NFL commissioner's visit to Steelers training camp
back on August 5th, the commissioner appeared visibly disturbed and
responded in no uncertain terms, that Ben's suspension will not be reduced
lower than 4 games.

LMAO! I thought the Rooney had run out of league favors after 2005 & 2008,
apparently he doesn't think so. Perhaps they aren't favors but threats of
exposing past league meddling. All this to try prevent the Ravens inevitable
demolition of his team in week # four. Must be desperation to put it in
front of the press and NFL fans like this.

The steAlers cheating ways were obviously not as blatant as those they
accused the Patriots of undertaking a while back. None-the-less, bones not
buried deep will surface after the rains fall. In this case it's the tears
of Rooney and Urination that expose them.

I'm not married. That was your mom that I kicked out because her lone
snaggle tooth kept snaggin' my hefty foreskin. You remember how your maw
gnawed on your wee tatter-tot so your can imagine the coma I put her in with
my big gulp.

Anonymous gaytard, I spend every minute of my days trying to figure out
exactly how to remove you generational welfare leeches from the system.

This Terminator worship is going too far. The guy is totally one
dimensional, and has hands like cement. I'd keep him on specials, but hope
they don't lose one of these good RB's because of the hype. He's not that
good. Anyone else agree?

Yup...you are right. I was at the Linc tonight...both sets of #2's did not
look very good...the Eagles are not a good team at all....my son works in
Philly and around a lot of savy sports guys....that seems to be the talk and
with low expectations....they didn't even have a live scrimage with another
team....Vick should have hit several guys for TD's...he flat out does not
see the field. I thought Kellen looked better than Brunell and Joe McNight
needs to go take a hike...he dances way the Hell too much.
