http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/health/mums-play-key-role-in-convincing-daughters-to-receive-hpv-vaccine_100482659.html

Tuesday, January 04, 2011 12:45:13 PM by ANI

Washington, Jan 4 (ANI): New research has suggested that mothers can
play a key role in convincing college-aged women to receive the human
papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, intended to prevent the most common
sexually transmitted infection.

The study found that young women were more likely to say they had
received the HPV vaccine if they had talked to their mother about it.

"Mothers talking to their daughters were an important factor in
whether young women were vaccinated," said Janice Krieger, lead author
of the study and assistant professor of communication at Ohio State
University.

Many mothers and daughters may be uncomfortable talking about the HPV
vaccine, because it is designed to prevent the spread of a sexually
transmitted virus, Krieger said.

But regardless of the difficulty in talking about it, the vaccine is
important because a persistent HPV infection may cause cancer.

The exploratory research involved 182 mother-daughter pairs. All of
the daughters were college students, with an average age of 20.

The daughters mailed a questionnaire about the HPV vaccine to their
mothers, and completed a similar questionnaire for themselves.

Overall, 137 of the mother-daughter pairs had talked about the HPV
vaccine, and 45 pairs reporting not discussing the vaccine.

Results showed that the key for daughters getting the vaccine was
having mothers who discussed the HPV vaccine with their daughter and
who reported believing that the vaccine was safe and effective in
preventing HPV-related diseases.

The study appeared in the January 2011 issue of the journal Human
Communication Research. (ANI)

Dear friends and colleagues

We have again updated the digital library http://www.childtrafficking.com and the update includes seven documents dealing with child labour.

Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH). (2010). The Invisible Workers: A Survey Report on Domestic Worker's Situation in Kathmandu – 2009. 94 p. Domestic Workers are less counted labor sector in global and Nepali society. In spite of their presence with more than 150 thousand all over the country, their work is not counted in the national economy, neither they are provided state protection by law and nor their situation have been interrogated seriously. However there are some studies with concentration on child domestic workers, the overall study of domestic workers has not been counted and this study is the first such kind of study in Nepal."http://www.childtrafficking.com/Docs/cwish_09_invisible_rep_0710.pdf

Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH). (2010).Together on Ending Slavery. 95 p. " The report is produced with the aim to inform and educate stakeholders about the Nepali children's and actors' perspective on the elimination of worst from of child labor with special focus on child domestic labor. Therefore this report is intended to policy makers, researchers, programmers and advocates on child labor field." http://www.childtrafficking.com/Docs/cwish_09_proceeding_child_0710.pdf

Groot, Afke de. (2010).Child Labour in Kathmandu, Nepal. 89 p. "One would have expected that the breakthrough of Convention 182 would have led to a significant amount of new studies and (non-)governmental action aimed at the elimination of the worst forms of child labour worldwide. In many countries, however, interventions designed for those children working under hazardous conditions and thus whose needs are most pressing, are lacking. There seems to be significantly fewer NGO activities for children who find themselves in the worst forms of child labour as defined by ILO Convention 182 [IREWOC 2005]. This relative absence of pro-active policies is paralleled by a lack of information." http://www.childtrafficking.com/Docs/groot_10_child_ktm_nepal_1210.pdf
Human Rights Watch (2010). Fields of Peril: Child Labor in US Agriculture. 96 p. "Hundreds of thousands of children under age 18 are working in agriculture in the United States. But under a double standard in US federal law, children can toil in the fields at far younger ages, for far longer hours, and under far more hazardous conditions than all other working children. For too many of these children, farmwork means an early end to childhood, long hours at exploitative wages, and risk to their health and sometimes their lives. Although their families' financial need helps push children into the fields—poverty among farmworkers is more than double that of all wage and salary employees—the long hours and demands of farmwork result in high drop-out rates from school. Without a diploma, child workers are left with few options besides a lifetime of farmwork and the poverty that accompanies it." http://www.childtrafficking.com/Docs/hrw_10_fields_peril_1210.pdf

Human Rights Watch. (2010). "Hellish Work: Exploitation of Migrant Tobacco Workers in Kazakhstan".116 p.  "International and Kazakhstani law prohibits the employment of children under the age of eighteen in harmful or hazardous work; Kazakhstani law explicitly prohibits employment of children in tobacco farming. Owing to the difficulty of the work and the risks associated with the handling of tobacco leaves and exposure to pesticides, experts agree that tobacco farming is one of the worst forms of child labor, or labor from which children under 18 are categorically prohibited."  http://www.childtrafficking.com/Docs/hrw_10_hellish_work_1210.pdf
International Labour Organization. (ILO). (2010). Roadmap for Achieving the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour by 2016. 8 p. This is the outcome document from the Global Child Labour conference that took place in the Hague in May 2010. http://www.childtrafficking.com/Docs/ilo_10_roadmap_achieving_1210.pdf

International Labour Organization. (ILO). (2010). Accelerating Action Against Child Labour. 81 p. "The focus of this third Global Report on child labour under the follow-up to the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work is about honouring the commitments made in 2006 with the adoption of a Global Action Plan. The Action Plan set out time-bound targets for the elimination of child labour. Important obligations and commitments were entered into by ILO constituents. Four years is a short time to ensure major change, but it does, however, permit the Organization to take stock and gauge progress. In particular we need to know whether the world is on track to meeting the target of eliminating all the worst forms of child labour by 2016." http://www.childtrafficking.com/Docs/ilo_10_accelerating_child_labour_1210.pdf

I don't think so... now Rex is now saying that the Jets playing the

It's personal alright. If he goes one and done, he risks being
personally out of the job...maybe not this year, but next if he falters
again.

Yo, smithee is a Pats guy (gal) and outside of his man (gal) love for
BB is an OK fan but jumping in here on something our ex-QB did sets
off the douche bag alarm.

He (she) is still a pretty rare poster here. But I understand the Pats fans
fear of Rex. First legitimate threat to BB and the Pats in years. After
all, if Rex didn't come here to kiss BB's rings, BB isn't staying in
coaching to kiss Rex's feet, though Rex would LOVE that ;-)

Wishful thinking, Ryan (to my disappointment) is here for the long

Do you really think that the pats, their fans or Belichick think of
Ryan as a threat? I dont think Belichick even considers Ryan or the
Jets good enough to do his laundry. I am a Jet fan, but a realistic
one.

Ritchie, I like him overall. He is a good coach & the first since
Parcells. I think there have been some distractions this year -- on
the field--and he has been putting out fires. I don't think he trusts
his OC & gets involved leaving Pettine to run the defense hurting us
on both sides of the ball.

Next year is the big year for him and it will be related to the salary
cap & signing: Edwards, Holmes, Smith, & Cromartie.

Initially it seemed like Ryan was going in the right direction, but as
time has gone by it has become more and more apparent that he is just
an over-inflated windbag. I would say that given his personal behavior
sooner or later he's going to do something that is going to so deeply
disgust people he will be fired before ownership gets tired of waiting
for a championship.

I agree, his type always do themselves in. He will do or say something
that wont be liked at all and Woody will have no choice but to fire
him. What scares me with that is that if Schott is still here when
that happens and knowing Woody's love affair with Schott, he will me
made the HC.

Personally I think he doesn't get involved at all with the offense. A
few weeks ago he stated that he had a meeting with Sanchez for the
first time this season and that was about 9 or 10 weeks into the
season. That is something that coaches do on a regular, most likely
weekly basis with their QB's. Belichick is a defensive genius but even
he and Brady break down film together (don't know if its the game
films or the secretly taped ones though) over the course of the
season. Ryan, IMO is in over his head just like his dad was when he
became a HC. Buddy was a defensive genius but a horrible HC. I think
that Ryan is no where near as good as his dad was and has bitten off
more than he can chew just like his dad did.

Yes next year (sigh) will be the test, if there is a season that is.

To me it is simple...what happened to ground and pound, beating up the

Added a couple of talented players to the O mix. Too much for a certain OC to deal with
;)
Seriously, remember how the O started playing well, in games 2 & 3... Keller was a key
player. Then Holmes was activated, and the O fell apart... and Keller was ignored.
Instead of adding to the mix, it's like he came up with a formula... play LT this amount,
Holmes this amount, Shonn this amount... etc this amount. Rather than letting the
situation, game flow, etc dictate play selection/player set.
Certain games it makes sense to start LT, while others it makes sense to start Shonn.
Never happened.
The Colts are a Shonn team. Had he not been injured at the start of the 2nd half, in last
year's Champ game, we probably win. As soon as he was hurt, that was it.

The only reason for the action to sue him is to force him, under oath, to
admit he sent these messages and thus embarrass him.

Well that and the possibility that he ponies up a few bucks to make it all
go away ;-)

JK, Warren Sapp sounded like Papa on Sunday saying that BB figured out
how to neutralize our CB's by working the middle.

He suggested moving both inside trusting the safeties & nickels to
cover. ??? Papa, our resident defensive expert do you have any

the current state gov is merely the putrefaction that stats after

Papa, our RE taxes are high, approximately 1.8%, & higher if it is a
rental property which screws renters, but no income tax but state corp
tax.

In college I had to read a book Fiscal Crisis of the State by a
Marxist named O'Connor. It was prescient. cops, fireman, teachers &
other civil servants making $80,000+ in retirement and this is a
sustainable model? So we have retirees making more money in
retirement than many kids will make in their careers.

It started after Watergate & like a snowball rolling down hill the
fiscal discipline to sustain govt has been obliterated by the need to
satisfy a larger & larger % of the populace, aka civil servants.
Neither party has the balls to deal with this.

The period of benevolent despots doesn't look bad right now.

could not agree more. imho, other than digging up teddy roosevelt and
propping his corps up someplace, a few years of dictatorship looks
like the only way to clear things out. im wondering though, if nj's
own christie would make a good presedential ticket next time around
with may be rubio as vice. christie at least had the stones to get in
front the two most brutal unions.

I am not up there and I don' know alll that Blumberg & Christie faced,
and Lee Brown was torched for staying away during riots so this isn't
new, but we have reached a level in this country where everything
should be fixed immediately. Sometimes no matter how much money is
thrown at a problem it can't be fixed immediately.

Christie went toe to toe with the unions, and in a rough economy that
plays well with most, it is when the $ are coming in that it takes the
strength to say no. There is trade off for the security that most
civil servants receive and that was forgotten by both sides. The
security disappears when the $ aren't there and the trade off for a
lower wage for the security was forgotten by the workers. If it means
paying a fair wage to the current schmoes doing the work & keeping
gov't going then I say legally push the pain to the pensioners that
are the biggest line item.

I could go one & on but the current system in many cities & states is
about creating pensioners & in law enforcement it is tossing guys out
when they are at the most valuable.
