So now we learn that Brady had a bad foot all along.
So did anyone on the coaching staff consider it might
be a good idea to have a run game in place in case
Brady got hurt and was even less mobile? Or if he
was put out of the game altogether and Hoyer had
to come in (Miami blitzed the crap out of him in
the first series he came in in the last game of
the season). But even without the foot injury,
didn't anyone anticipate the Jets would flood
the backfield? On some plays the Jets had only
3 or even 2 men on the line, ripe for exploitation
by quick-hitters with the running backs.
All in all, this one is on Belichick. Yes, the
play that blew the game was the 58 yarder made
out of a 4 yard pass play by Cotchery, but the
Patriots could have had the lead by that time.

Like Ron Borges wrote, in most positions, the Jets did have the better
players at most position.
That Pats team was an over achiever if you take the Vegas O/U on
season wins for them at 9.5.

I assume you mean the Jets. You think they don't sign Schott and let
him move on or that schott gets a HC gig?
Financially it would make sense as Schott is making $2MM. W/O
beating that dead horse about Schott's abilities Callahan & Rex are
probably closer to being on the same page.
A lot of guys first thought is financial...I think win loss and the future.
It seems as though Callahan has been calling a lot of the shots (no pun).
So IF, Schott gets a job I think Callahan would be a logical choice to
takeover the job...however, I do not think Schott will get a job, nobody has
asked permission to talk to him and I do not think the Jets / Woody / Rex
will get rid of him. I think he is going to become a very highly paid asst.
coach while more and more of the offense falls to other people. To me, the
designation of Asst. HC on Callahan says a WHOLE LOT. I would seem logical
to me that Schott's job has been altered in some way.....what was far more
interesting to me on that FX thing was Schott turning to Rex in a critical
situation to see what HE wanted done? And Rex looking right to Sanchez and
seeminly giving him the go ahead to throw it. I also find it a little
strange (only because I'm old school) that the OC is on the field and not in
the box where he can see all the things a D is doing and plan his attack.
That tells me he has a more scripted approach. Schott will most likely be
with the Jets in the future I would guess.

If I am right, the Owners are hoping to gut the union with a lock out
and everything is just posturing. The players are right about the TV
deal and the collusion on salaries. But so what. By the time it is all
resolved, if it is...
That means, who ever hoists the Lombardi may be the last team to hoist
one for awhile. Letting the owners play with their toys like the kid in
the Nissan commercial who destroys his cars could end up killing or at
least severely damaging the golden goose. Look forward to a 20 game
season, rookie caps, hiding more money from the pool and giving less of
the pie to the players, more restrictions on FA (as a "hidden"
cost-cutting move to restrict demand), and maybe even playoff games
overseas.
Imagine if we do win. It will shock the football world so much they shut
down the candy store.

The two links I posted both list "attendance". I've never ever seen
any information that shows that the Jets have had a consecutive
sellout streak as far back as you say. Can you provide a link with
that information?
John,
I can't say for sure how accurate this info is, but I can't remember
the last time a home game was blacked out for either NY football team
(though I don't think a 100% sellout is required to avoid a blackout).
According to this source, as of 2008, the Jets had sold out 257
consecutive games to the Pats' 159. In any event, it's pretty clear
that Jets' fans are as loyal as any; perhaps more than most, given the
team's history.

It has been a while, burf. I've had a tough couple of years
