I do look forward to those games. But I will look forward to the
Bills more now that they are going in the right direction. It could
be that there are three quality teams in the division and to me that
makes it much more interesting. If Miami would get its head out of
its ass it could be the deepest division in the league.

I am with you as he gave us fits in Mangini's last year.

I don't have time to hate the pats. The AFC East looks tougher this
year.

i agree 100 %. it is much more fun if all the afc eadt teams are
good. as i jet fan, i am always asked if i hate the brady and the
pats... not even close... the pats are one of the best things about
jets football. it would be great if the bills are actually getting
better. that would mean two more sensational div rival games for the
jets AND... if the jets are in contention for the div, pats vs. bills
would be fun too. i get to watch div rivals knock each other off. as
of yet, the bills have not proven much of anything given their first
two opponents... we'll get a good idea of who they REALLY are this
weekend. GO BILLS !!!

More drama and more competition is better to me. It tests teams,
builds their mental and emotional strength, gives them more chances to
find solutions to bad situations, builds their game time physical
conditioning, gives them opportunities to practice meaningful 2 minute
drills, builds a bond amongst the players, gives fans a lot more
energy in the highs and lows, creates a charge of energy to get back
at them next time, etc. I'm glad the Jets are a good team, and I'm
glad the Bills are going in the right direction. The Pats owe your
team, especially, for creating a lot of drama and excitement twice a
year. That doesn't happen with irrelevant competition.

Well, I hope the Bills do give you a good fight. A different team and
staff, this I see as a pivotal game - yes it's only week three - but it
is for them. A win will give them the confidence that they can compete
with any team....a loss, but close game will still help by saying that
they look like they are moving in the right direction. A blowout loss,
esp at home, will make it look like the first two games were only wins
because the opponent sucked. We all know KC is bad, but Oakland seems a
mid-pack team. Seeing how the Jets play them will be as interesting as
seeing how the Bills play the Pats...

I've watched too much lousy football and the kind of ball that generates a
"let them loose it" attitude...so on this one, I'm going for as many good
teams as possible and a lot of competition. That eliminates the tendency to
just sit back and wait for someone else to lose it, you need to actually
play the game, coach the game, make plays, be proactive and go win it and
the result if a much better product to watch. OMHO Papa Carl

You might as well take the ST advantage. To me that's counts more
than defense in this new sport. To me the defenses of the league can
no longer keep up with the offenses. We are watching an entirely new
sport. This sport is dominated by offenses and ST. ST are especially
potent for putting up points within a few seconds, and deflating the
other team emotionally.
Maybe I'm wrong and this is due to the strangeness of a lockout
season. We'll know in a few more games, but I don't expect the trend
to change. The defenses are just not able to dominate right now. The
message to me is: Find ways to score points or you're going to lose a
lot of close games.

If the league made defense harder to play, then don't you think
they've made STs (kickers and KR in particular) a hell of a lot harder
than that?

I think I agree and I think some guys who "get it" like BB follow suit and
get on the band wagon. This is the way the game is being played, and rules
are setting it up this way. Some stuff gets called a TD that would never
have been that back in the day.

i dont like the direction the game is going in. it is bs. if a db
looks cross-eyed at a wr, he gets a flag. the rules for line play
gives all the advantages to the offense. if you dont hug and kiss the
qb when you sack him you get a flag. if you plaster a wr, you get a
flag. no three man wedge... kick it closer to mid field so there are
no more exciting run backs. they are turning the game into fast food
bull shit for people that dont know what real football is. even worse
than that... football was born of american blue collar folk. i guess
too bad for them that they cant afford tickets to the games now. i
for one done want to watch one pampered jeark-off play a game of catch
with another pampered jeark-off. i want real football.

i dont like the direction the game is going in. it is bs. if a db
looks cross-eyed at a wr, he gets a flag. the rules for line play
gives all the advantages to the offense. if you dont hug and kiss the
qb when you sack him you get a flag. if you plaster a wr, you get a
flag. no three man wedge... kick it closer to mid field so there are
no more exciting run backs. they are turning the game into fast food
bull shit for people that dont know what real football is. even worse
than that... football was born of american blue collar folk. i guess
too bad for them that they cant afford tickets to the games now. i
for one done want to watch one pampered jeark-off play a game of catch
with another pampered jeark-off. i want real football.
________________________________________________________________________
Lord have Mercy ! Has Hell frozen over????? Did the earth change is
direction?????? I am in total and complete agreement with Michael, and not
only that but with his description of it. I grew up in a blue collar town,
with factories and a lot of working class people. The entire town turned
out for a Saturday football game. People would show up at an office at the
high school all week long to secure a ticket because at some point they
closed the gate. People would sit on the rooftops of houses all around the
field which was NOT near the school but on the East End of town and easily
accessible. One coach had been there for decades and was loved by all, an
icon in town. We had a Freshman Team, a Sophomore Team, The JV Team and the
Varsity. Everybody came out for the sport. And it was not a flashy game at
all. A lot of the time it was two TE sets and a full house backfield.
Sometimes we'd throw and even run out of a split with a flanker but not if
we couldn't move the ball first by pounding it. If we lost a game, we went
from the game field to the practice field for a "learning session."
And...it was very good for me, and I suspect a lot of others. I would never
have made it out of college without it and that tough background in the
sport.
I'm not saying we need to go back to that...but this sucks...totally
sucks...but it fits right in with the way the power structure feels about
the working man. I am so damn glad I was taught to respect a man because of
who he was and how he treated me, not by the job he had. I was told if the
man worked at all...it was dignity. My best friends on the team were a kid
who lost his Dad in the war, a kid whose Dad was a doctor, a kid whose Dad
worked in the factory across the street from the football field, and my Dad
who worked in an explosives plant...and the game taught us we were all the
same. I'm sick of the crap they play today...but, I watch it :-)

Most of the Jets yards have been via penalty. Sanchez is terrible,
even his completions are miracle catches that should be intercepted.
The Jets running game actually looks worse than the Patriots running
game.

Would this be a conclusion formed by analyzing stats, or just your own
personal observations?
Hateful fans are guaranteed to do one thing all the time: See what
they want to see. So count me as unimpressed. It's been done a
million times. It's called whining.
No it's not whining. It's part of the game. Sometimes the Jets, get the
benefit of some calls, most of the time, they get screwed. But that's nor
here or there. Last year, I think it was Brady's helmet that got grazed by a
hand of the defense, totally unintentional, and they got flagged for 15
yards.
I usually enjoy ready your posts Seor, but you are a blind Pats fan. It's
all good, I couldn't care less about officiating so long as they call it
down the middle. What gets me are these stupid ass calls, or border line
calls only going one way. Weather it the Jets, Broncos, Giants, dolphins, it
just sucks to get gypped out of a play here and there because of the
officials using "Judgment" calls, or an official is 25 yards away making a
call, when there is an official right there watching the play.

Also forgot to mention the Dolphin game last year against the Steelers.
Freaking zebras handed the game to the Steelers. Dolphins got royally
screwed. I am by no means a Dolphin fan, but to lose a game like that was
AWFUL!!! Dolphins played hard and because of a "Judgment" call they lost...

From: Michael
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/7329/cro-im-better-playmaker-than-nnamdi
By Rich Cimini
"When Antonio Cromartie re-signed with the Jets, he was beseiged with
questions about Nnamdi Asomugha, the team's first choice to start
opposite Darrelle Revis.
That was nothing. If Cromartie had signed with the Raiders, Asomugha's
former team, the comparisons to the All-Pro cornerback would've been
non-stop. The Raiders, whom the Jets play Sunday in Oakland, were hot
for Cromartie during free agency. It came down to Jets and Raiders.
Frankly, Cromartie believes the Asomugha comparisons would've been off
base. Why? Because in one respect, Cromartie thinks he's better than
Nnamdi. Yeah, that's right, better.
"My style of play and his style of play are totally different,"
Cromartie told ESPNNewYork.com. "I feel I'm more of a playmaker than
he is."
Cromartie is confident, and why not? He's coming off one of the best
games by a Jets cornerback in recent memory, a two-interception game
against the Jaguars. So far, the Jets' four-year, $32 million contract
for Cromartie looks like a solid investment.
The Raiders, who lost Asomugha in free agency, went hard after
Cromartie. He's an Al Davis kind of player -- fast, freakishly
athletic and a man-to-man corner. For Cromartie, the decision came
down to a shot at the Super Bowl. Evidently, he didn't think the
Raiders are close.
"For me, it was about being able to win now, having a chance to win
the Super Bowl," Cromartie said. "Oakland is an up-and-coming team and
coach (Hue) Jackson is doing a great job. They're a team that, in the
near future, is going to be a great team.
"They were trying to sell me that I could be one of their No. 1
corners (with Stanford Routt), but here, with the Jets, I feel like we
have two No. 1 corners -- 1A and 1B.""

I wasn't dreaming two Sundays ago though I fully understand why you prayed

The Rooney-Tunes in fact were actually put right back on their plane to

Instead they mouthed off and were humbled unmistakably by the Ravens. So cut

The past few days I have read a number of *expert* commentators giving
their reasons why the Raiders will beat the Jets. I just watched the
Raiders-Bills replay on the NFL network. Given what I saw... There is
little to no chance that the Raiders will put up more than 17 points
on the Jets defense. Even an average defense can make the Jets
offense look bad at times, so I'll say that if the Jets offense can
manage 17 + points, the Raiders have little to no chance at beating
the Jets.
