Beijing, Dec 1 (IANS) A man was arrested in the Chinese capital for
spreading rumours that many people have entered Beijing with syringes
"filled with the HIV virus", police said Thursday.
The man used the Sina Weibo blogger service to spread the HIV rumour,
Xinhua reported citing a statement from the Beijing municipal public
security bureau.
The microblog said: "Several people have entered Beijing with needle
tubes (syringes) filled with the HIV virus. There are people who have
been pricked by needles of AIDS infectors."
Beijing police confirmed that the information was false, and Wednesday
detained the writer of the microblog, a man named Li.
